Chiropractic Treatment: Give Yourself Time!

If a patient is experiencing prolonged pain and dis-ease, it isn't unusual that as part of their chiropractic treatment, a chiropractor may recommend that a patient restrict certain activities in order for the spine to heal and stabilize. Healing requires time and protection for acute conditions to be resolved or chronic problems to be controlled. A patient may be advised not to participate in any number of activities while recuperating; such as reaching overhead, lifting heavy objects, playing sports, sitting or driving for prolonged periods, operating certain machinery or tools, or performing other types of movements (such as lying back in the beauty shop sink, or vaccuming).

McKim Chiropractic is a health care Chiropractic Treatment Boise ID vital to the injured athlete with Chiropractic Doctor Boise ID concern deliberate for your particular problems.

Yet, too often, the patient decides that they have to finish painting the house, mowing the yard, plowing up the garden, move a fallen limb, play that weekly game of golf, and ...more.  The doctor of chiropractic will tell you that these are the same patients who do not respond optimally to chiropractic treatment, as healing requires time and protection. Their physical condition is not allowed time to stabilize. The dysfunction, inflammation, and degeneration continues, leading to permanent impairment or surgical intervention, or both. The restrictions have now become a permanent part of the patient's life.

Recommendations on how to conduct your activities are really in your best, and many times, vital interest. Heed the instructions from your chiropractor. How much downtime you allow yourself over the following weeks or months could very well make a difference in how much activity you will be able to do later. Make wise choices today; it will pay off tomorrow!

Pediatric Chiropractic Care for Special Needs!

Often ignored, neglected, or even overindulged, the handicapped child is held captive by physical or mental obstacles. Somehow these handicaps are especially painful when they threaten the future and potential of our most vulnerable children. Pediatric chiropractic care can help free some of the restrictions on these children and help them achieve the most optimum level of performance possible. Child chiropractic doctors are dedicated to the elimination and prevention of the Vertebral Subluxation Complex.

Suffering from back pain? Our expert Child Chiropractic Boise ID at McKim Chiropractic provides painless treatment for these symptoms. Meet us for Back Chiropractor Boise ID Care.

While many disabilities seem irreversible, optimizing nervous system function can make a remarkable difference in children who have mental or physical difficulties.

A traumatic birth, confinement, convulsions, and other physical limitations can cause the vertebrae that protect the spinal cord to lose their normal motion or position. Delicate nerve tissue can be damaged, resulting in interference with the brain's ability to control associated organs and tissues. Lost muscle tone weakens the important support of the spine. Discs, blood vessels, and other soft tissues can swell and become inflamed. The body responds with bone spurs and abnormal bony growth, and various systems through the body may malfunction. Pain or other obvious symptoms may not be present, yet optimum health and well-being are compromised.

Spinal problems that go undetected or neglected in children become more serious problems in adults. Take care of your children today!

Pediatric chiropractic care is important for your children, and is adapted to the specific needs of each one. Contact McKim Chiropractic to find out more about our child chiropractic services.

Auto Accident Chiropractor Explains: What is Whiplash?

Whiplash is most commonly received from riding in a car that is struck from behind or that collides with another object. When the head is suddenly jerked back and forth beyond its normal limits, the muscles and ligaments supporting the head and spine can be stretched or torn. The soft pulpy discs between spinal bones can bulge, tear, or rupture. Vertebrae can be forced out of their normal position, reducing range of motion. Don't delay in making an appointment with an auto accident chiropractor! Even though your car may not be damaged, you and your passengers could have suffered serious spinal injuries. Make sure you have a spinal check-up!

McKim Chiropractic is a health care profession treat with Auto Accident Chiropractor Boise ID concern deliberate for your particular problems. Meet our Chiropractor Treatment Boise ID for the Whole Family Care.

Anyone who has been in an accident, even if there are no immediate obvious symptoms, should be examined by an auto accident chiropractor for whiplash. The resulting instability of the spine and soft tissues can contribute to headaches, dizziness, blurred vision, pain in the shoulders, arms and hands, reduced ability to turn and bend, and low back problems. As the body attempts to adapt, symptoms may not appear until weeks or even months or years later!

An auto accident chiropractor will use specific chiropractic adjustments to help normalize spinal function, restore proper motion and position of spinal bones. If treated early on, inflammation can be reduced and scar tissue can be minimized.

Been in a collision lately? Schedule an appointment with our auto accident chiropractor and prevent future damage from spinal subluxations. Chiropractic Therapy: Part 1 of Living Stress Free!

The motions of daily life, if done incorrectly, can result in stress and injury to the spine. There are several daily activities that we all perform with much thought. However, if done incorrectly over a period of time, they will cause pain and long-lasting injury to the spine. Many people find themselves seeking chiropractic therapy to relieve the stress caused to their spine and lower back. Your chiropractor can advise how to avoid these types of injuries by learning the correct way of performing them.

McKim Chiropractic is a health care chiropractic therapy Boise ID vital to the injured athlete with sports chiropractor Boise ID concern deliberate for your particular problems.

Please consider the following tips for four daily activities:

Sitting – Choose a chair that is firm enough to support you comfortably

  • Don't slouch!
  • Sit with your feet flat on the floor or on a low footstool with your knees slightly higher than your hips with your back firmly against the back of the chair.
  • Avoid crossing your legs at the knees—this can aggravate existing back conditions and interfere with circulation to your lower limbs.

StandingStand with your head level

  • Stand with your head level. When standing in one place for very long, put one foot on a 4-6-inch stool to help keep pressure off your spine.
  • Avoid wearing high heels if you are going to be on your fee for long periods of time.

Working at a DeskMake sure your chair fits correctly

  • Take frequent stretch breaks.
  • Sit with your knees at a 90-120-degree angle. An angled footrest may help.
  • Allow for two inches between the front edge of the seat and the back of your knees.
  • Choose a chair that tilts back so you can rest while reading your computer screen.
  • Elevate materials or your computer screen to avoid neck fatigue.

LiftingAvoid twisting and turning motions

  • If you have to turn to place an object down, step in the direction of the turn, don't just twist at the waist.
  • Always bend at your knees when lifting anything heavier than 10 percent of your body weight (e.g., a child or heavy box).
  • When lifting, plant your feet about 12-18 inches apart, kneel or squat in front of the object, and lift with the big muscles of your thighs, arms, and shoulders as you straighten up (not with your back).
  • In situations where it is difficult to lift correctly (getting grocery bags out of the car), bring the bag to you first and then lift carefully.
  • Use equipment to help lift heavy objects whenever possible.
  • Be sure your path is clear before you lift an item to avoid tripping.

There will be more tips coming next week on living stress-free, so stay tuned...

If any of the activities above are causing stress and pain in your body, chiropractic therapy may be the solution for you. Call McKim Chiropractic today or go to http://www.mckimchiropractic.com for more information and to schedule an appointment. Our licensed and certified staff

Infant Chiropractic - Head-start to a Healthy Life!

A newborn's spine may be subject to abnormal stress as a result of a difficult birth, a breech presentation, caesarean birth, obstetrical error, or abnormal in-utero position during the last trimester. Such spinal stress can lead to many health problems. Because many doctors recognize these symptoms of spinal stress in newborn babies, they may recommend infant chiropractic care to prevent future problems as the baby develops.

McKim Chiropractic is a health care profession treat with Infant Chiropractic Boise ID care which is Safe for Mom and Baby. Find us for Chiropractic Wellness Boise ID care for your particular problems.

For over a hundred years, the doctors of chiropractic have recorded dramatic responses from some infants after a chiropractic spinal adjustment with conditions as varied as Erb's Palsy (in which an arm is limp or undeveloped), unbalanced facial and skull symmetry, foot inversion, colic, torticollis (twisted neck), "nervousness," and ear, nose and throat infections.

More and more parents are beginning to understand the importance of infant chiropractic care. With a healthy spinal column, a child's body can better deal with sore throats, ear infections, stomach aches, fevers, measles, mumps and the hundred-and-one other problems that often make up a young life. Without infant chiropractic care into adolescence, some children will live in continued sickness, condemned to a life of taking medicines and perhaps even surgery.
