4 Tips from a Chiropractor to Help Prevent Back Pain!

If you are experiencing unexplainable back pain, licensed chiropractors can assess your condition and answer your questions. Your posture may simply be the culprit. Incorrect posture exerts strain on your ligaments and muscles, resulting in abnormal wear on your joints. Practicing correct posture can keep your bones in their proper alignment, preventing irritating back pain and injury. Your chiropractor can advise you as to the correct postures for sitting, standing, sleeping, and other daily activities.

McKim Chiropractic is a health care profession treat with Chiropractors Boise ID concern deliberate for your particular problems. Meet our Chiropractic Wellness Boise ID for the Whole Family Care.

• Sitting – Sit with your shoulders back, your neck up, and your back relatively straight. Keep your feet flat on the floor, avoiding crossing your legs. If you work in a sitting position for long periods of time, about every 30 minutes  take time to stretch and walk around for a few minutes.
• Driving – If you have a long commute or your job entails a lot of driving time, your car seat may be contributing to your back pain. To reduce the strain on your lower back, place a lumbar cushion behind your back. Also, be sure the car seat is close enough to the steering wheel so that you can easily reach the pedals while still maintaining back support.
• Standing – Stand as straight as possible with your shoulders back and your head upright. Keep your feet about shoulder-width apart, with your knees slightly bent, your stomach pulled in (so you can still breathe comfortably), and your weight resting on the balls of your feet.
• Sleeping – Your pillow plays an important role for proper sleeping posture. It should be thick enough to allow your head to rest comfortably in a natural position. Only your head should rest on your pillow (not your shoulders). For added support and pain relief, place a pillow under your knees and under the small of your back.
