Prenatal Chiropractic Benefits!

If you are a mother-to-be, you know that pregnancy has a significant impact on your health. A contributing factor to whether you are healthy or not stems from the alignment of your spine. Regular prenatal chiropractic care appeals to many women who have a goal of better health—not only for themselves, but also for their unborn baby!

McKim Chiropractic is a health care Prenatal Chiropractic Boise ID vital to the injured athlete with Chiropractor Services Boise ID concern deliberate for your particular problems.

During pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes many changes, including:

  • Protruding abdomen, adding stress to the lower back
  • Pelvic changes
  • Postural adaptations, such as increased back curve

There are four stages in which having an optimally working nervous system can help both mother and child:

  1. Pre-Conception – Regular chiropractic care before pregnancy prepares a woman’s body to be as strong, balanced and ready as possible to carry her pregnancy to full term. It is the safest answer to ensuring a healthy pregnancy.
  2. During Pregnancy -- Changes are a normal course of pregnancy, but these changes can cause alterations in spinal alignment and nerve function. When nerve function is altered, the organs and tissues that the nerves go to are also altered. Low back pain is a possible sign of nerve
interference in the nerves leading to the abdomen, uterus and pelvic muscles.
  3. Labor and Delivery – A baby’s head will have difficulty fitting through a pelvis that is altered.  By following a course of prenatal chiropractic care, it allows for the proper spinal and pelvis alignment that will improve the labor and delivery experience.
  4. Post-Partum – Make sure that the trauma of labor and delivery has not caused alternation in your spinal alignment and nerve function. Prevent chronic low back pain!
Looking for safe and comfortable prenatal chiropractic care?& Call McKim Chiropractic today or go to http://www.mckimchiropractic.com/ for more information and to schedule a consultation. Our trained and certified staff is committed to helping the mothers-to-be of Boise, IDNampa, ID, and Caldwell, ID, achieve health wholeness before, during, and after pregnancy.

Chiropractic Wellness: Massage Therapy

The term “chiropractic wellness” is a popular term in today’s world. Because of its holistic healing properties, massage therapy is used as just one of the avenues of achieving chiropractic wellness. Tight and tense muscles can cause misalignment in the spine, which can lead to a wide range of other issues. Massage is the process during which a licensed massage therapist will knead and stretch muscles and other soft tissue, releasing the toxins that build up in the muscles.

McKim Chiropractic is a health care Chiropractic Wellness Boise ID vital to the injured athlete with Doctor Of Chiropractic Boise ID concern deliberate for your particular problems.

A massage therapist will ask you questions about your health and possible symptoms you are having as well as about past injuries and problems you may have had. This will help them determine the areas that need the most care and attention.

Massage therapy is one of the safest and most non-invasive methods to help you heal and relax. It is perfect for patients with chronic conditions, and may be beneficial in the long term.  Many different techniques may be used to relieve muscle tension. A professional and certified massage therapist can determine the best techniques to help you heal as quickly and safely as possible.

The massage therapist will apply concentrated pressure to trigger points that are often painful and can sometimes lead to referred pain in other parts of the body. Application of sufficient pressure to these areas for a long enough period of time (usually 45-60 seconds) can allow these tight places in the muscles to relax with subsequent improvement in pain and muscle tightness. Stretching techniques and exercises at home can often help to normalize muscle anatomy and its attachment to bones. Used in conjunction with chiropractic treatment, massage therapy can allow maximum benefit from the adjustments and often help prevent recurrence of symptoms.

The final tip to chiropractic wellness: Don’t let tension and stress get you down! Massage therapy can offer relief before the muscles misalign your spine or cause injury to another part of your body, and allow the natural healing properties of the body do their work of restoration.

Come in for a free chiropractic consultation and our doctor of chiropractic will determine if massage therapy is right for you. Contact McKim Chiropractic by calling today or go to http://www.mckimchiropractic.com for more information and to schedule a consultation and to
schedule an appointment with our licensed massage therapist. Our licensed massage therapist and doctors of chiropractic are more than pleased to help the
residents of Boise, IDNampa, ID, and Caldwell, ID reach their goal of chiropractic wellness.

Chiropractor Offers Healthy Back-to-School Tips!

It's back-to-school time, and that means kids running, jumping, and falling in the playground, books, back packs, and school sports. The activity can be great for you and the kids, but heavy back packs and bad posture can hurt your kids and their backs.   Here are five tips from a chiropractor that will help keep your family strong and healthy:

McKim Chiropractic is a health care profession treat with Chiropractors Boise ID concern deliberate for your particular problems. Meet our Family Chiropractic Boise ID for the Whole Family Care.
  1. A good back pack! A good pack is light, snug and comfortable to wear.  Make sure it isn’t too big for a small child. It should be made of vinyl or canvas, with two wide padded shoulder straps and a waist strap.  Adjust the straps so that the pack is snug against the back.  Make sure the heaviest objects are close to the body and bumpy, odd-shaped objects are placed on the outside, away from the back.
  2. In the dorm!  If you are moving your kids into their dorm room, be sure to label the boxes so that you know what is inside and how heavy they will be. Tape the boxes so that they are sturdy and the contents won’t shift while being handled.  Follow the rules for proper lifting with balanced footing and a good grip.  Face forward when lifting, keeping the object as close to your body as possible, and bending from the hips and knees.
  3. Hitting the books! Use a book stand so that your book is at eye level when studying or reading. This will reduce the amount of strain on your neck and shoulders from having your book lay flat. It also gives you extra desk space!
  4. School sports! Remember that your body may not have done that particular sport in awhile and will need extra time to warm up--a minimum of 10-15 minutes. The warm up should involve simple movements that “simulate” your sport and get the heart rate up. Remember to stretch after the game.
  5. Sitting in class! Practice good posture, sitting with your shoulders back, chin tucked in and a gentle "C curve" in your low back. Don't arch your lower back or slump forward. Your ears, shoulders and hips should be in a straight line. Between classes stand up, walk around and stretch. This will help reduce the strain on the neck, shoulders and low back, and also help keep you attentive in class!
For more back-to-school health tips, contact our chiropractors at McKim Chiropractic.  Call or go to http://www.mckimchiropractic.com for more information and to schedule an appointment. Our
licensed and certified staff is happy to help the families of Boise IDNampa ID, and Caldwell ID, have a safe and healthy school year.

Tips from an Auto Accident Chiropractor.

Have you or one of your family members been involved in an automobile accident recently? Possibly you were in one several weeks or months ago and you are just now starting to feel the effects of it.  Whether the accident happened at high speeds on the interstate, or simply moving about 20 mph on a side street, it causes an incredible amount of stress on the body and spine, damaging ligaments and other soft tissues in the process. Don’t put off finding an auto accident chiropractor to correct an injury to your spine and prevent further damage from occurring.

McKim Chiropractic is a health care profession treat with Auto Accident Chiropractor Boise ID concern deliberate for your particular problems. Meet our Prenatal Chiropractic Boise ID for the Whole Family Care.

Head and neck conditions are the most common types of injuries in accidents. This type of injury is generally referred to as whiplash--the action of a person’s head or neck being violently forced in one direction and then the opposite.  Whiplash can also occur from work injuries, sporting activities, or even just falling. It is important to seek care immediately because many times the symptoms may not be evident for hours or even days after the incident.

Immediately after an accident you should:

  1. Rest and ice – It is important to reduce inflammation as early as possible with ice packs and rest for the damaged area.
  2. Seek immediate care -- If you are experiencing dizziness, loss of balance, or confusion, don’t put off any necessary medical or chiropractic treatment.
  3. Consult an auto accident chiropractor – Additional treatment can be provided to correct any spinal issues and to speed up the healing process.

Most common symptoms of whiplash:

  • Neck pain and/or stiffness
  • Head pain and/or headaches, especially at the base of the skull
  • Pain that travels down arms or back
  • Irritability
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Vertigo
  • Jaw pain
Many different injuries can occur from auto accidents, work injuries, falls, or sporting activities.  It is important to have a chiropractor perform a thorough exam to ensure the health of your body and spine.  An X-ray will be performed to ensure the integrity of the auto injury victim’s structural system.  With the thorough exam and images, an effective course of treatment can be prescribed.

Noteworthy:  Prevent further damage to your spine.  Early treatment from an auto accident chiropractor will help your body recover more quickly from injury with full healing restored.

If you have signs of whiplash following an accident, call McKim Chiropractic today or go to http://www.mckimchiropractic.com for more information and to schedule a consultation with an auto accident chiropractor.  Our licensed and certified staff is committed to helping persons involved in auto accidents in Boise, IDNampa, ID, and Caldwell, ID, reduce the pain and damage caused from whiplash!

Visit a Chiropractic Center During Pregnancy

Many chiropractors report that they regularly provide chiropractic care for pregnant patients for pregnancy related spinal conditions. A pregnant patient cannot utilize drugs as a result of contraindications with pregnancy. Because of receiving conservative treatment at a chiropractic center during their pregnancy, many midwives and obstetricians will highly recommend chiropractic care. Chiropractic is a safe alternative for pregnant patients and should always be the first option for anyone (pregnant or not) before the utilization of drugs, making them needless if a non-drug approach delivers positive outcomes.

McKim Chiropractic is a health care profession treat with Chiropractic Center Boise ID care for relief of pressure. Consider Chiropractic Treatment Boise ID treatment, the safe, non-surgical alternative with us.

Because chiropractors are conservative in their approach to patient care, they share the same holistic and vitalistic philosophy as midwives in the care of patients.

With an emphasis on an integrative approach to patient care, chiropractors and midwives have a unique opportunity to develop partnerships in this regard. Many midwives will recommend their pregnant patients to a chiropractic center to address pregnancy-related neuromusculoskeletal complaints, sciatica and fetal malposition. In a survey of midwives on their use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies, it was found that chiropractic was the most popular CAM therapy to address musculoskeletal back pain.

Among midwives, many are aware that chiropractors are willing to work with birthing professionals. Chiropractic care can help with such maladies as fetal repositioning during pregnancy. The baby can continue to receive chiropractic care through their adult life.

Chiropractic is one of the safest treatments currently available in healthcare. Because the potential benefits far outweigh any risk, it deserves serious consideration.

Take care of yourself and the unborn baby with a visit a chiropractic center as part of your pre-natal health care. Call McKim Chiropractic or go to http://www.mckimchiropractic.com for more information and to schedule an appointment at one of our chiropractic centers. Our licensed and certified staff is committed to helping the residents of Boise, IDNampa, ID, and Caldwell, ID, receive the best prenatal chiropractic care possible!
