A Chiropractic Office Offers Exercise Warm-Up Tips!

It's that time of year when everyone is getting out in the fresh air to run, walk, play tennis, soccer, or some other form of strenuous exercise. Even though a thorough warm-up will extend your workout time by a few minutes, it is important to make it a part of your work-out routine. Don't skip it! Otherwise, you may be seeking the services of a chiropractic office to straighten you out! Runners who do not adequately warm up prior to training are at greater risk of injury and poorer performance than those who do.

McKim Chiropractic Office Boise ID is a health care profession treat with Chiropractor Treatment Boise ID designed for your particular problems.

Why is a proper warm-up important? It prepares the body for increasingly vigorous activity, allows it to work more efficiently, and reduces the risk of injury. It increases . . .

  • heart rate;
  • breathing rate; and
  • blood flow to the muscles;

Warm-up Tips! Whether you are a casual runner that only makes it around your block, or one that is training to run the Boston Marathon, here are nine warm-up recommendations offered by a chiropractic office:

  1. Jump rope for a few minutes, keep your legs slightly bent, land on the balls of your feet and flex your ankles to push off the ground.
  2. With your knees bent at about 30 degrees, slowly lower yourself into a half-squat, and slowly rise again. Repeat 5 times.
  3. With your knees flexed about 45 degrees, hop approximately three feet from side to side, keeping your knees flexed and landing lightly.
  4. Standing on an upward slanting surface, rise up onto the balls of your feet and hold for 5 seconds. Repeat 10 times.
  5. Walk or sprint up and down a set of stairs (or a step-box).
  6. Put your hand on a chair (or a wall) for balance and raise one leg while simultaneously bending the opposite knee until you are in a half-squat on one leg. Repeat with the opposite leg, then do another 15-20 times.
  7. While leaning with your back to a wall and your feet approximately a foot away, lift your toes and the balls of your feet as high as you can, pivoting from the ankle. Lower your toes near the floor, without touching, then lift them again. Repeat 15-20 times. Rest for 20 seconds, then do another set.
  8. Do 10 sets of lunges, alternating legs each time. Try to keep your knee from bending more than 90 degrees, keeping the knee positioned directly above your heel. The leg behind you should be slightly bent.
  9. Starting with your knees slightly bent, dip down then jump up as high as possible, coming down with your knees bent, and immediately jumping up again. Continue jumping like this 10 times, rest for about 30 seconds and repeat the set once or twice more.

A Chiropractic Center Explains: “What is Chiropractic?”

Chiropractic is a natural, non-invasive approach to health care. Every year, more than 30 million Americans visit a chiropractic center as part of their regular health care program. Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that the human body is self-regulating and self-healing controlled by the brain, spinal cord and nerves. The spinal vertebrae serve to protect the nervous system. If any of these vertebrae lose normal motion or become misaligned, the result is that the tissues and organs throughout the body will not function properly. Be sure to visit a chiropractic center at the first sign of problems or pain in your body.

McKim Chiropractic Center Boise ID is a health care profession treat with Chiropractic Service designed for your particular problems. Meet our expert Chiropractors Boise ID treatment at McKim Chiropractic.

The focus of a chiropractic center is to treat patients without the use of drugs or medicines. Doctors of Chiropractic are primary health care providers and as such, costs can be covered by governmental health care programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, Workers' Compensation programs, as applicable. Chiropractic is the fastest growing health care profession with over 84,000 licensed chiropractors nationwide and more than 10,000 students currently enrolled in chiropractic school.

Chiropractors treat individuals who suffer from:

  • Headaches
  • Joint pain
  • Neck pain
  • Low back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Spinal disk conditions
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Tendonitis
  • Sprains
  • Strains

However, the scope of conditions that chiropractors manage or provide care for is not limited to the common pains and problems listed above. • Being overweight
  • Inactive lifestyle
  • Jobs that require heavy lifting

Back Pain Culprits:

  • Your Job – A jobs that involves lifting, pulling, or anything that twists the spine. Sitting at a desk all day, especially if your chair is uncomfortable or you tend to slouch.
  • Your Bag -- An overstuffed bag can strain the lower back, especially if you carry it day after day. If you must tote a heavy load, consider switching to a wheeled briefcase.
  • Your Workout -- Overdoing it at the gym or golf course is one of the most common causes of overextended muscles. You're especially vulnerable if you tend to be inactive during the work week and then spend hours at the gym or softball field on the weekend.
  • Your Posture -- Your back supports weight best when you don't slouch. This means sitting with good lumbar support for your lower back, shoulders back, and with feet resting on a low stool. When standing, keep weight evenly balanced on both feet.
  • Herniated Disc -- The spine's vertebrae are cushioned by gel-like discs that are prone to wear and tear from aging or injuries. A weakened disc may rupture or bulge, putting pressure on the spinal nerve roots, and be the cause of intense pain.
  • Chronic Conditions -- Such as spinal Stenosis (a narrowing of the space around the spinal cord), spondylitis (chronic back pain and stiffness due to severe inflammation of the spinal joints), and fibromyalgia (widespread muscle aches).

Finding a back chiropractor has saved millions of people from pain, disability, drugs and surgery, making a difference between a life of health and comfort, or a life of pain, disease and disability.

Spinal Decompression: The Answer to Chronic Neck or Back Pain!

Are you suffering from chronic neck or back pain? Have you been trying to handle bulging or herniated discs? Do you have sciatica or spinal arthritis pain? You may have tried everything to get better, yet still suffer with pain. There is a method that can succeed even if you've been told you have to live with your pain or that there was nothing else to do. Too often most therapies only focus on your site of pain. Spinal decompression therapy is the secret to pain relief--look where you DON'T hurt to fix the areas where you DO hurt!

McKim Chiropractic Center Boise ID is a health care profession treat with Spinal Decompression for relief of pressure. Consider Spinal Decompression Boise ID therapy, the safe, non-surgical alternative with us.

Spinal decompression therapy is a nonsurgical means of relieving pain to the lower back and neck. This form of therapy is a spinal disc rehabilitation treatment that slowly and gently stretches the area of the spine while decompressing the discs. This technique often allows for pressure to be relieved from the nerve root and promotes repositioning of the bulging or herniated disc.

Spinal decompression combined with rehabilitation actually helps re-educate muscles, ligaments, and tendons, creating a healthier disc environment. Discs naturally remain healthy by activity, such as compression and decompression forces which you would get from activity such as walking.

The forces of spinal decompression work on the concept of gentle distraction therapy, the compression and decompression of the disc. During the decompression stage, a partial vacuum is formed that relieves the pressure between the vertebrate, allowing the disc to reshape back to its normal form. When the decompression is released, the pressure with-in the spinal column equalizes at a much quicker rate, relieving the pressures on the disc. Through compression and decompression, the tissue surrounding the disc can heal because this process also creates blood flow and oxygen to the injured area. The blood flow and oxygen send nutrition to the injured area allowing a faster recovery.

Is Spinal Decompression for you?

If you're wondering if spinal decompression therapy is for you, schedule a consultation with one of doctors at McKim Chiropractic. You will receive a personalized evaluation of your spinal health with a recommendation on how to improve your condition. Chiropractors: Achieve Health Wholeness!

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractors treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.

McKim Chiropractic is a health care profession treat with Chiropractic Therapy Boise ID concern deliberate for your particular problems. Meet expert Chiropractors Boise ID for your Whole Family Care!

Doctors of Chiropractic, often referred to as chiropractors, practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.

The most common therapeutic procedure performed by chiropractors is known as "spinal manipulation" or "chiropractic adjustment." The purpose is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted in their movement as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. The injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.

In many cases, such as lower back pain, chiropractic care may be the primary method of treatment. When other medical conditions exist, chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition.
Chiropractors assess patients through clinical examination, laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging and other diagnostic interventions to determine whether chiropractic treatment is appropriate or not. If chiropractic care is not suitable for the patient's condition, chiropractors will readily refer patients to the appropriate health care provider.

Why Use A Chiropractor for Neck Problems?

Many neck pain treatments focus only on covering up symptoms when the most commonly overlooked cause of the problems is in the upper spine. Finding a chiropractor for neck problems specially trained to treat problems with the upper spine, can save a person from a life of disability, surgery, and drugs.

Suffering from neck pain? Our expert Neck Chiropractor Boise ID at McKim Chiropractic provides painless treatment for these symptoms. Meet our Chiropractors Boise ID to become pain free treatment.

The upper spine can be a factor in the development of neck pain for two reasons:

  • First, the spine works and moves as one, continuous unit. The top two vertebrae, called the atlas and axis, are the most mobile segments in the spine, moving in six different directions, allowing the head to move up or down, bend side to side or turn left to right. The other vertebrae move primarily in two directions, which also actually makes them stronger and more stable than the top two vertebrae.
  • Secondly, the upper cervical spine (upper neck) has thousands of "sensors" responsible for maintaining both the proper posture and alignment of the spine, as well as the balance and stability of the head. These sensors are constantly monitoring head position, making the necessary changes throughout the lower spine to assure that the head remains upright.

The spine is extremely strong and stable when it is properly aligned. However, due to their mobility, the top two neck bones are especially vulnerable to injury or misalignment. When a misalignment occurs at the top of the neck, the spine compensates for it below in an attempt to protect the vital nervous system it houses. This triggers a chain reaction from the top to the bottom of the spine. When the head is thrown off balance, the lower spine is compromised; the pelvis is tilted, one leg may be drawn up or shortened, resulting in an internal weakness and a spine that is unbalanced.

If a person neglects getting the appropriate treatment from a chiropractor for neck problems, an upper cervical misalignment can lead to premature arthritis and irreversible spinal degeneration.  Have you ever been in a car accident, had any slips or falls, any work injuries, any sports injuries, or ever experienced any trauma (minor or major)? If the answer is YES to any one of these, then your current neck problems may in fact be due to a previous injury to the head or neck that resulted in a misalignment in the upper neck.

When patients seek the help of a chiropractor for neck problems, they can be empowered to live the healthiest, pain-free, and active life as they possibly can.

Enjoy the lifetime benefits of maintaining your spinal health and avoid disability, surgery and drugs! We invite you to visit one of our McKim Chiropractic offices located in Nampa, Caldwell, or Boise, ID.
